Term 1 Week 8

English Practice Paper 1
We have completed Practice Paper 1 and the students assisted me in totaling up their marks today (26 Feb). Generally, the class did well to be scoring close to 50 marks. The class average was 42.4 marks, close to my target of 42.5 (Band 1). For students who dipped below the average, marks were lost mainly in the Open-Ended Comprehension section.

You child will be receiving their Science Topical Test on Life Cycles this week too. Do stay tuned! =)

Meanwhile, I would like to share some photos taken during this morning's FTGP lesson. Ms Serene led in today's Interactive Activity and got the class to form words using themselves. Enjoy the photos!

Ms Serene giving her instructions

This is the even-numbered group

This is the odd-numbered group

For the first word, the even-numbered group formed the word 'wet' faster than the other group. The group was led by Mateen.

The odd-numbered group was a little confused of their roles initially but was able to complete the challenge in the end. This group was led by Sze Ryn.

Ms Serene was challenging the entire class in forming the words '4 Courage'

The students were up to it and started work

The '4' and 'C' were formed almost immediately

Brenda and Glenda even had time to pose for pictures.

The 'O' and 'U' were next

Finally, it was done! The class took under 10 minutes to form the words

It was a sense of achievement for all!

We ended our session will our class cheer!
Regards,
Stan

Term 1 Week 6

This week, we had an in-class FTGP session which was conducted by Ms Serene. Students were asked about the times they were feeling down and how they overcame them. Many of them shared about loneliness and high expectations from parents.=)

The students were given a piece of recycled paper. They were to crush the papers when they were given situations like disappointments in academics, sports or social life. Only a few of the students had papers with little creases after the activity.

This a little update on our mealworms. On Wednesday, the students witnessed the changing of the pupa stage to the adult stage. All of them were so excited to see that!

For the month of January, 7 of our 4 Courage students were recognised for good character in our monthly Elias Star. They received the certificates on stage, in front of the whole school on Wednesday morning.

Term 1 Week 4

First of all, a very Happy Chinese New Year to all who are celebrating it.

Last week, being a short week, we managed to start on Unit 2 of English STELLAR as well as the Life Cycles of Some Animals in Science. Students had the chance to see the mealworms developing into pupae too!

Below is a photo the 2 pupae.

Chinese New Year Celebration
We celebrated our CNY by having a class activity. Each group was tasked to come out with the Chinese character "Horse" by using recycled materials. Group 4's work was selected by the class and guess what? They came out tops for the entire level! Well done Group 4!
