Class Writing on Fractured Fairy Tales

For the past week, the English lessons were focused on writing. The students had a great time coming up with interest (and humourous) stories of fairy tales. In our class writing, we came up with a fractured tale on Rapunzel called 'Rambutan - the long haired boy'.

For group and and individual writings, we shifted our attention to writing adventure stories.

Group 2 tried hard to come up with a story involving dragons within a short time.

After the discussions, all groups went around the class for a Gallery Walk on respective group's writing.

The students were encouraged to write construction comments on the other group's writings.

On Wednesday, we had our FTGP session. The students were challenged to gather in groups and stand on a small sheet of newspaper. They were then asked to fold the newspapers into halves while remaining on the newspaper.

Only Group 1 seemed to be able to get everyone on the newspapers. They shared tips on how they balanced themselves on only 1 foot while holding on to a person in the middle. A member even shared that it helps when most of the members are slim. =)

It was really a squeeze.

Some 'sacrificed' themselves by bending down to fold the newspaper.

Term 1 Week 2

Dear Parents,

By now, 4C students are more or less used to the routines of school. A few of them shared that they had enjoyed themselves in various lessons - from FTGP, PE to Science. A few brave students have also 'adopted' some mealworms over the weekend. I hope you are not terrified of them!

At the same time, I would like to share some students' work done during our ICT lessons and some photos taken during our FTGP session this week.

Term 1 Week 1

Dear Parents,

One week had passed and lessons had officially started. Unfortunately, a few of our students were feeling under the weather and were absent from school for a few days. Let's hope that they recover fast in time for Chinese New Year!

We had a fun time learning about modals, adjectives and verbs during English lessons this week. A few students had problems converting the sequence of adjectives and nouns in that particular exercise. They were given an adjective to form a sentence. Thereafter, they were required to rewrite the sentence where the adjective changed position, using words like 'who', 'that' or 'which'. 

E.g . The shy (adjective) girl hid in the closet. 

The girl who hid in the closet was shy (adjective). 

For Science, we started the lesson with a KWL Chart. Students were asked to pen down what they Know, what they Want to know and what they have Learnt about life cycles. Many students were able to come up with excellent points and they were then asked to share their points.

Bonding Day 2

Dear Parents,

The students had great fun today as they had a round of mini games.

Firstly, the students had a 'rolling' good time playing a relay game.

The class Prefects were given some time to introduce a game to their peers.

Some of them had problems getting the hoops through.

Everyone was so focused in getting it done.

Glenda and Athena were helping Brenda with the hoop.

Milan had to negotiate 2 hoops.

Srivathsan was having a difficult time then.

The students took turns to be overseers and participants.

Bonding Day 1

Dear Parents,

Just some photos to show our 4 Courage students in action during our first day of bonding.

Our P4 students accompanied our P1 students during their recess. This is not the first time they they playing elder brothers and sisters to our juniors.
